An evening dedicated to fighting hunger, this eighth annual Empty Bowls event is sponsored on behalf of the Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA) and raises funds to meet the growing numbers of hungry families and seniors in Columbia Heights, Hilltop, Fridley and Spring Lake Park.
Guests are treated to a simple meal of soup, salad and bread donated by area businesses. Special appearances by the MN Vikings Cheerleaders and KQ92 DJ Wally Walker. Entertainment includes performances by local school choral and band groups, dance studios and a karate demonstration. Bingo, face painting, balloon twisting, caricatures, a pottery making demonstration and silent auction are other activities offered. Free will donations are welcome.
