25 years of The Empty Bowls Project

March 24 through August 1, 2015

Culinary Arts Museum

Johnson and Wales University, Providence, RI

This exhibition celebrates the growth of Empty Bowls over the 25 years since its inception. What started in 1990 as a project in a high school ceramics class in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan has now spread throughout the United States and to numerous other countries.

Through text, videos, photographs, posters, and bowls, the stories told in the exhibition are representative examples of how countless communities and individuals have participated.

The exhibition is a project of The Imagine Render Group. It was organized by Empty Bowls co-founders Lisa Blackburn and John Hartom in cooperation with staff of the Culinary Arts Museum: Richard Gutman, Stephen Spencer, Erin Williams, and Kristen Zosa Puleo. Nancy Jones provided conceptual and editorial assistance.
Additional assistance was provided by Mark Boyd and Dana Moore.

Graphic design in the exhibition was done by Johnson and Wales University students;
Amanda Hengst, Courtney Blair, and Ray Nuñez.

Generous financial support for the exhibition was provided by The Windgate Charitable Foundation.
